Power Line Services has participated in the PLH Group Apprenticeship Program since its inception in 2012, and a number of our employees have since received their Journeyman certification from the U.S. Department of Labor as a result.
The purpose of the program is to provide an earn-while-you-learn opportunity that enables employees to change their lives and their families’ lives for the better, while at the same time helping the company build and retain a highly skilled workforce, making it a win for all involved.
The apprenticeship program for Power Line Services employees is divided into two categories, one for lineman apprentices and one for substation apprentices. Both are four-year certification programs with strong emphasis on safety that combine required coursework with 2,000 hours of documented on-the-job training each year.
The success of the PLH Group’s apprenticeship program has been recognized by the company’s appointment to the U.S. Department of Labor’s ApprenticeshipUSA initiative LEADER program and participation in the ApprenticeshipUSA White House Summit and Congressional Event in September 2015.
