3 Things Construction Managers Look at in the Field
April 16, 2018
As many of us know, advancing from an employee who works in the field to a management position is not always an easy task to accomplish. When we asked our Distribution Operations Manager what the top 3 Things his Construction Managers look at while in the field, here is what he said:
#1 – Is always going to be Safety. Managers will think to themselves: are we working in a SAFE manner at all times? what can I do to help my crews stay safe? Managers execute plans to improve safety as well as lead by example and train crews to work safely.
#2 – Do it right the first time. Managers take time to question the process: Is the work we complete reliable? Does the work we do build our customer’s trust? Managers follow specific plans to help guarantee the project’s integrity. He or she will find ways to increase the customer’s satisfaction with the project.
#3 – Use Resources Wisely. Managers will consistently work towards improving best practices through questioning: Are we being cost-effective with everything that we do? What resources and materials do we need to be effective at our job, yet also save our customers money? Managers are able to find that perfect balance of best practices, high-quality work and the ability to save our customer’s resources.
Although we cannot guarantee anyone a promotion or advancement based solely on these three things, we are an Equal Opportunity Employer who believes in a positive work environment that frequently advances from within.
